Founded in 1985, English Studio consists of three unique schools in Mita, Meguro, and Setagaya. Our mission is to nurture confident, independent global communicators. By offering a range of theme based courses for all levels, from beginner to returnee, we place the focus on learning in English rather than rote learning of English. English Studio is a community school where students and parents feel a sense of ownership and get actively involved in events such as Sports Day, School Festivals, Halloween, Christmas, and Summer School excursions.

English Studio has traditionally had a very strong elementary school program and in 2004 we decided to start reviewing the types of classes that were offered to kindergarten aged students. An English Studio teacher, Maria Boucher, and a Head Teacher, Borris Fagon, began to work on creating a more comprehensive program for 3 and 4 year old students. This project was completed in 2004 by Maria and another English Studio Head Teacher Joshua Brodie. In 2005 English Studio started 2 and 3 hour Pre-kinder classes using this new curriculum. Due to the wonderful response we received we decided to start a full time English Immersion Kindergarten based at our Meguro school at the beginning of April 2006. In 2007 we started a second class and welcomed Jacquie Mujaya to the program as Head Teacher and Greg Wilk as the teacher of our senior class. In 2008 we added a third and final grade level and welcomed Anna Dalrymple to the program. Both Anna and Jacquie have worked at English Studio, specializing in teaching young learners, for more than 6 years and Greg adds a solid background in early childhood education.
